Kirsten Lecture Reflection

     This lecture was really interesting because today we had the guest speaker Kirstin come and talk about her experience as a filmmaker. She was very confident with herself, and she was able to captivate the audience's attention. Her sense of style was very loud and I really liked the fact that she didn't care what other people had to say. Her favorite color was orange, so she wore clothing that reflected that. I think this is very admirable about her because sometimes I think I care way too much about what others think, where it inhibits me from trying new things or not having the courage to. She, on the other hand, was very inspirational in that aspect, and I hope to have the courage that she contains one day. Another way that she did this, was that she would not be afraid to get really close to the students by sitting down next to them or asking them various questions. Editing_Analysis

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=499Aiwh_If0        The film that I will be analyzing would be Kill Bill Vol 1. Directed by Quentin Tarantino. For those of you who have not seen the movie, it’s about this assassin (Uma Thurman) who wakes up from a coma four years after her ex-lover Bill (David Carradine) attempts to murder her on her wedding day, and seeks revenge for all of the wasted time invested.             One of the most climatic scenes of this movie was one of the battles between The Bride (Uma) and Gogo Yubari. During this fight scene, there are a ton of cross shots at play here. From the way the editor edits a close up shot of Gogo Yubari’s weapon, to the various ways in which The bride and Gogo glare at one another with their piercing eyes, it all works harmoniously for the anticipated fight scene. A Soundwalk Down St Marks

            As I get off the train station, I listen intently for my surroundings.   “Click clack bam” “Swish swish swish”             I can hear the various noises coming from people’s shoes as they get off the 6 train station. The sound of people talking, laughing, crying, all ring through my eardrums as I come up from the subway staircase. This neighborhood is nothing new to me, because I walk just about this same route everyday coming back from Hunter College. Although this area is all too familiar, there almost is always some new sound to be discovered. As I take a seat next to the uptown train station, I can hear the sound of people working, numerous cars going by on the street, the sound of bikes and skateboards as they swoosh on by. About Me

     Welcome to my blog! My name is Julianna, and I am a student at Hunter College. I originally thought I wanted to major in computer science, however I soon realized that the major was not for me because of all the math requirements involved, and the way that my mother raised me. Starting from a young age, art has always been a huge influence in my life. My mother exposed me to various forms of art, and I just fell in love with it. I started drawing and coloring as a hobby when I was younger, and in high school, art was one of my favorite subjects. Mainly because my teacher was also a phenomenal art teacher.
